Union County IA Jail is for County Jail offenders sentenced up to twenty four months.

The Union County IA Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 302 North Pine St Creston, IA which is operated locally by the Union County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Union County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Creston Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The Union County Jail currently has 6 full time employees. The jail holds 11 inmates (3 single cells and 2 four person cells) and is generally full to capacity including sending inmates to be temporarily housed in other county jails. The jail meets standards to house male and female prisoners. Jail meals are prepared at HyVee in Creston and delivered to the jail.

Covid Visitation Information

As of March 18, 2020, registration and visitation rules have changed to protect inmates at Union County IA Jail and their loved ones during the COVID-19 outbreak.
