The United States Penitentiary, Allenwood (USP Allenwood), is a high-security federal prison in Pennsylvania, part of the Allenwood Federal Correctional Complex (FCC Allenwood). The federal land also holds the FCI Allenwood Medium and the FCI Allenwood Low prisons. The facility has four two-level housing units, each containing four 16-cell ranges around a central day room where inmates can gather. Recreational and counseling facilities are located adjacent to the housing units, while the outer perimeter is secured by double fencing with barbed wire. Guard towers and a perimeter intrusion detection system enhance security.

In terms of housing, inmates typically share two-person cells. Health services include a mandatory physical examination for new inmates, sick call, dental care, annual screenings, and medications. Psychological services offer assessments, crisis intervention, and therapeutic groups.

Educational programs at USP Allenwood include GED, ESL, vocational training, correspondence classes, and evening college classes. Inmates work in a UNICOR upholstery factory and perform institutional maintenance jobs. Medical, psychological, and drug treatment services are also available.

Notable inmates include Somali pirate leader Mohamud Salad Ali now serving a life sentence for hijacking a civilian yacht. Howard Mason (24651-053) is serving a life sentence for racketeering charges and ordering the murder of a New York City police officer. The former acting boss of the Lucchese crime family. Louis Daidone (39065-053) currently serving a life sentence for murder, murder conspiracy, racketeering, and loansharking now at USP Coleman I. ​Jorge A. Martinez a former physician is serving a life sentence for health care fraud. James Eagan Holmes is serving 12 life terms for the 2012 Aurora, Colorado shooting.USP Allenwood offers various programs such as the Special Management Unit (SMU), which focuses on teaching self-discipline and pro-social values. Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) is available at FCI Allenwood Medium, while USP Allenwood offers drug abuse education, non-residential programs, AA, and NA.

Education services cover literacy, GED, ESL, parenting, ACE classes, and high school diplomas. Vocational training includes computer word processing, drafting, and Internet computing core certification. Apprenticeships are offered in cooking, quality control, and upholstery.

USP Allenwood does not house a Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP), however, RDAP is offered at FCI Allenwood Medium. USP Allenwood does offer a Drug Abuse Education program, the Non-Residential Drug Abuse Program (NR-DAP), Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) but the inmates only get time off their sentence if they complete the 9-month RDAP.

The library provides legal and leisure materials, including an electronic law library and typewriters for legal work. UNICOR produces office furniture, while the commissary allows inmates to spend up to a specific amount each month on regular and special items (i.e., $360.00), and an additional amount for special purchase items. Recreational activities range from arts and crafts to team sports like softball and basketball. Fitness programs, musical instruments, and hobby craft are available, with SMU inmates receiving a minimum of five hours of recreation per week.
