Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW), situated in Gig Harbor, WA, accommodates approximately 750 female inmates across minimum, medium, and close security levels. Established in 1971, the facility comprises nine units catering to various custody needs, including medium-security, closed custody, segregation, treatment and evaluation, close observation, and receiving units. Vocational training opportunities at WCCW encompass computer-aided drafting (CAD), embroidery, and various construction trades.

Inmates receive comprehensive healthcare services, including medical, dental, and mental health care. Some offenders participate in community service crews engaged in landscaping, crop harvesting, commissary work, and minor facility repairs. Volunteer-driven programs such as creative writing, meditation, theater groups, craft projects, and substance abuse counseling contribute to offender rehabilitation.

A distinctive feature of WCCW is its pet program, enabling offenders to groom and train shelter dogs for adoption upon completion of training. Over 600 community volunteers support various aspects of the facility, offering academic internships, counseling services, tutoring, diversity awareness programs, and leadership opportunities through initiatives like the Girl Scouts Beyond Bars Program.

National organizations like Toastmasters International, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Narcotics Anonymous provide additional volunteer services. Community service crews undertake grounds maintenance, repairs, and planting tasks, while female offenders on outside crews contribute to the general facility and grounds maintenance, as well as sundries store operations.

The facility's program offerings encompass academic, partnership, research-based, and vocational initiatives, catering to diverse educational and rehabilitative needs. These programs include adult basic education, GED preparation, information technology training, ornamental horticulture, and the Prison Pet Partnership Program (PPPP), among others. Vocational opportunities provided by Correctional Industries include CAD services, embroidery, and Trades Related Apprenticeship Coach (TRAC) programs, facilitating skill development and reintegration into society.
