The Weston County Detention Facility is a detention center located at 25 N Sumner Ave Newcastle, WY which is operated locally by the Weston County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Weston County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Newcastle Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Make a Deposit to an Inmate Account?
The Weston County Detention center accepts money orders and cashier checks (NO PERSONAL CHECKS) via United States Postal Service provided you are an approved visitor. These items may also be deposited at the Detention Center. Cash deposits at the Weston County Detention Center ONLY.

Send Mail to someone in the Detention center?
Mail for inmates must come into the Detention Center via United States Postal Service. The Senders complete first and last name along with address must be on the return address portion of the envelope. If it is not, the inmate will be issued a mail violation and the letter placed into the inmates locked property. We will not accept them in person.

Provide an Inmate with Photographs?
Each inmate may have five (5) photographs in their personal possession. Photographs must not be of an explicit nature. Polaroid photos are not accepted. Photos must be mailed to the inmate. We will not accept them in person.

Visitation Information

Weston County WY Detention Facility - Visitation

Visitors must complete and return a visitor request form for approval.You will be notified by phone when approved or disapproved. Visiting Privilege Application Form

• Visiting for inmates not in disciplinary segregation, will be permitted on Wednesday and Sunday. Wednesday visits start at 7 PM and end at 9 PM. Sunday visits start at noon and end at 3 PM. 30 minutes will be provided per visit. Any exception to these rules must be requested in advance per written request and approved by the Detention Center Administrator and/or Sheriff.

• Visitors must apply for visitation approval. Inmate Visitation Approval Form can be obtained by requesting at the dispatch window of the Law Enforcement Center. The Detention Center will notify visitor if approved or denied. Limit of five (5) approved visitors per inmate. Only approved visitors are allowed to contribute to inmate commissary account (CASH, MONEY ORDER, or CASHIERS CHECK) no personal checks or payroll checks permitted.

• It is the responsibility of the inmate to notify the visitors of any changes and procedures of visiting.

• The Detention staff, due to unforeseen circumstances or security reasons may cancel or alter visitation at any time. Visitation will be conducted under the supervision of the on duty officer and administrator at their discretion.

• Visitors may be subjected to searches of their person or belongings. Purses, backpacks, bags will be left in your vehicle or at home. No drugs, alcohol, tobacco products or any weapons are allowed in the Weston County Law Enforcement Center.

• Visitors may be restricted from visiting inmates by the courts or Detention staff. The Detention staff will not tolerate disruptive and/or disrespectful behavior by visitors.

• All visitors must provide valid identification, which includes: Valid Driver’s License form State of Residence Valid Photo ID card from State of Residence Valid Military Photo ID Active Duty Only Valid Passport WESTON COUNTY DETENTION CENTER INMATE/VISITOR VISITATION RULES AND REGULATIONS

• Visitors must check in with the dispatcher, show proper ID and complete the necessary paperwork before being allowed to visit. Failure to comply will result in denied visitation.
• Visitors must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. If under age 18, the visitor must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. ONLY IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS ALLOWED (Immediate family members are Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Son, Daughter, Husband, and Wife). Detention Administrator or the Sheriff must approve any alternatives.
• Visitors under the influence are not permitted into facility and could risk being denied future visitation. • Visitors who have been incarcerated in the Weston County Detention Center within the last year of their release date will not be allowed to visit.
• Any visitor leaving the visitation area will not be allowed to re-enter the area, and the visit will be considered finished.
• A maximum of two (2) visitors is suggested in the visiting room at a time, excluding small children. If the children are unruly or loud, the entire visit will be cancelled and visitor will be asked to leave.
• Visitors violating rules or failing to comply with Detention Officer’s orders will be asked to leave and may be refused future visits.
• Rules are subject to change at the discretion of the Detention Administrator and/or Sheriff.
