Worcester County MA Jail & House of Correction is for County Jail offenders sentenced up to twenty four months.

All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for County - medium facility.

The Worcester County MA Jail & House of Correction is a medium-security detention center located at 5 Paul X. Tivnan Dr West Boylston, MA which is operated locally by the Worcester County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Worcester County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the West Boylston Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

Sending Mail to Inmates

If you would like to send a letter to an inmate of the facility

  • The correspondence must be written in black ink or in non-colored pencil.
  • The paper that the letter is written on must be white lined paper, free of stains, spills or discolorations.
  • Envelopes must be pure white only.
  • Drawings must also be in either non-colored pencil or black ink.
  • Greeting cards must not be multi-layered.
  • Mail received that does not conform to this policy will be returned to sender or sent to Special Services, even if a money order is enclosed.

Funds

Inmates can use funds to purchase canteen items (candy, sneakers, toiletries, etc). Pre-Trial Inmates can also use funds to post bail.

Funds can be deposited into an inmate’s account in the following ways:

In Person

Visitors can deposit funds through the kiosk located in the modular complex lobby. The kiosk accepts cash, debit, and credit cards.

Mail

United States Postal Service money orders (payable to the inmate) may be mailed to the facility (cash will not be accepted).

Phone

Deposits can be made with a credit or debit card by calling (866) 345-1884.

Online

Deposits can be made with a credit or debit card at www.inmatedeposits.com

Phone Calls

In order to receive phone calls from an inmate you must set up an account with Securus. This can be done by phone at (800)844-6591 or online at securustech.net. You must be on an inmate’s phone list in order for them to call you. Most calls are $5.24 per 15-minutes, an InmateAid number will make the calls $3.15. If you'd like the savings, click here.

Property & Clothing

Property

Inmate Property can be picked up in the Main Jail building between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM (Mon-Fri). A release form is required if an inmate is unable to collect his property himself. Checks for remaining inmate funds can be picked up in the MODS Administrative Building between the hours of 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM (Mon-Fri).

Court Clothing

Clothes for court can be dropped off at the appropriate Control Booth during the hours of 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM (Mon-Fri).

Clothing Exchange Criteria:

  • Clothing exchanges conducted Monday – Friday (no weekends or holidays) only between the operating hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
  • Clothing Exchange Authorization must be completed prior to transaction.
  • Appropriate court attire only. (No sneakers, work boots, sweat clothes, tank tops, shorts, t-shirts etc.)
  • Minimum of 24 hour notice required.
  • Authorized person must be currently on the inmate’s visitor list.

All bails must be posted cash only. In addition to the dollar amount of bail, individuals who are posting bail must pay the bail administrative fee of $40.00 (must also be in paid in cash only).

Covid Visitation Information

As of March 18, 2020, registration and visitation rules have changed to protect inmates at Worcester County MA Jail & House of Correction and their loved ones during the COVID-19 outbreak. At this time, there are no in-person visits for family and friends due to the COVID-19 situation. Video visitation is available; details can be found below or call 508-854-1800.
