Western Regional Jail is for Regional Facility offenders sentenced up to twelve months.

WV DOC - Western Regional Jail and Correctional Facility is a regional jail facility that handles the intake from the Lincoln County Sheriff's arrests but also from several surrounding counties located at One O'Hanlon Pl Barboursville, WV. This cooperative prison is funded by all of the counties that hold their detainees and sentenced inmates.

The Western Regional Jail is located in Barboursville, just off of Interstate 64 in Cabell County. This facility has been in operation since December 13, 2003, and is one of the largest jails in the state.

Offender Banking

Family and friends of WV Division of Corrections inmates may deposit money to inmate trust fund accounts by the following methods:

The Accelerated Parole Program (Policy Directive 454.07) shall be made available to inmates serving a sentence with a parole eligibility date, except sentences of Life with Mercy and Habitual Life. However, this program shall not be available to any inmate to which one or more of the following may apply:

  1. Is serving a sentence for, or has a criminal conviction for, a felony crime of violence against a person.
  2. Is serving a sentence for, or has a felony conviction, involving the use, presentment, or brandishing of a firearm.
  3. Is serving a sentence, or has a felony conviction, for a crime where the victim was a minor child.
  4. Is serving a sentence, or has a felony conviction, for a crime where the crime resulted in the victim's death.
  5. Is serving a sentence for more than one (1) felony conviction for a controlled substance offense on which the inmate is serving a consecutive sentence.
  6. Is serving a sentence on an offense for which there is a mandatory notification period under WV Code Section 62-12-23.
  7. Is presently incarcerated due to parole revocation for a new felony conviction, to WV Code 62-12-19(h).
  8. Is presently incarcerated in another jurisdiction, with a consecutive/concurrent WVDOC sentence.

Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or submit a notarized statement from the parent or legal guardian authorizing the visit. Only non-incarcerated parents or legal guardians may authorize juvenile visitation. If not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian the visitor must be accompanied by an authorized adult visitor, and must have a signed, notarized.

Directions

  • If arriving at the Western Regional Jail and Correctional Facility from the east (areas such as Charleston, South Charleston and other areas): Use I-64 west. If starting point is near Charleston, exists referencing communities that you will go by include Dunbar, Institute, Cross Lanes, Nitro, St. Albans, Teays Valley/Winfield, Hurricane, and Milton. After you have gone by the Milton exit (Exit 28), you will pass the Huntington Mall exit (Exit 20). The next exit is (Exit 18) is the exit you take to access the Western Regional Jail. Get off I-64 at Exit 18 and make a left at the stop light. Go underneath Interstate 64 and through the stop light and make a right onto Old Guyan River Road (across from the First Sentry Bank). After going right, take the next right (immediately after crossing the bridge) onto O’Hanlon Place and go to top of hill (past the Robert Shell Juvenile center) and turn right into parking lot.
  • If arriving at the Western Regional Jail facility from the west (areas such as Huntington, Wayne, and other areas including Kentucky): Use I-64 east. If starting point is near the Kentucky line, exits referencing communities that you will go by include Kenova, West Huntington, Hal Greer Boulevard, and the 29th Street Exit. After you have gone by the 29th Street Exit, you will pass by a golf course on the right. Continue on I-64 east until the next exit (Exit 18) which is the exit you take to access the Western Regional Jail. Get off I-64 at Exit 18 and make a right at the stop light. Go the first right and turn right onto Old Guyan River Road (across from the First Sentry Bank). After going right, take the next right (immediately after crossing bridge) onto O’Hanlon Place and go to top of hill (past the Robert Shell Juvenile center) and turn right into parking lot.
