General Visitation Information

Mendocino County Corrections Facility - Visitation

In-Person Visitation - To make an appointment to visit an inmate, please call (707) 463-6330 Monday-Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (closed from noon to 1:00 PM) and leave your name and phone number so that we may return your call.

Video Visitation - In partnership with Legacy Inmate Communications, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has initiated a remote video visitation program. Remote video visitation allows the outside party to schedule and visit with an inmate via computer, tablet, and most smartphones. Video visitation increases visiting opportunities to at least 6 days per week and will begin on December 15, 2015. Video visits can be scheduled only through Legacy Inmate Communications, online at www.legacyinmate.com or by calling (888) 729-4326. Scheduling of video visits begins December 12, 2015. Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office staff can only assist you with in-house, onsite visiting. Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office staff cannot assist you with video visitation.

Video visits are available in 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30-minute increments, depending on the inmate housing assignment. Cost is $.35 per minute, regardless of where you are calling from!

NOTE: Depending on an inmate’s classification, housing unit, or disciplinary status, they may be ineligible for video visitation.

Participant Responsibilities

Inmates are responsible for:

– informing family and friends of dates and times of unavailability due to jobs, programs, court, etc. Inmates will NOT be retrieved from a job or programs to make a video visitation appointment.
– checking the video visitation unit for scheduled video visitation appointments (visits cannot be made any less than 48 hours prior to the date and time of the visit)

The scheduling party is responsible for:

– scheduling and payment of the video visit.
– knowing the inmate’s schedule and availability BEFORE scheduling the video visit
– ensuring computer/device possesses the technical requirements outlined by the vendor and available for viewing at www.legacyinmate.com.

BOTH parties are responsible for :

– appropriate behavior during video visits. Inappropriate behaviors may lead to disciplinary action, denial of future video visitation appointments, or denial of any outside party to schedule and conduct future video visitation sessions with an inmate.

– video visits starting on time! Video visits begin at the time selected by the person scheduling. If a 20-minute video visit is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. – 10:50 a.m., and the inmate does not get the video visit unit until 10:33 a.m., the visit will STILL end at 10:50 a.m.! The same applies to the scheduling party.

NOTE: Video visits are recorded and subject to review.
