Visitation Rules
· Visitation days and times are to be determined by the Warden or Jail Administrator and will be posted. The Warden or Jail Administrator may authorize special or extended visits that would occur outside normal visiting hours.
· Visitors must present a current, and valid state issued ID.
· Exchange of visitors is prohibited during the course of the visitation.
· Visits will be on a first come, first serve basis. It will be the inmate’s responsibility to contact his family to come visit.
· If there is not a public visitation booth open, a visitor may be instructed to wait or come back later. The same instructions will be given if the visitation booth in the desired housing unit is already occupied. A visit will not be allowed to begin any later than 15 minutes before the close of visitation hours.
· Maximum amount of visitors is: 1 Adult and 2 Children -or- 2 Adults
· Visitors will not leave children under the age of thirteen unattended in the Lobby during visits and will supervise their children at all times.
· Visitors must remain seated at visitation monitor. Exposing of body parts during the video visitation is strictly prohibited. Any visitor in violation of this rule will lose visitation rights for one month or more as determined by jail staff.
· All Visitors’ clothing shall be clean and within the bounds of common decency. Shirt and shoes must be worn at all times.
· Prohibited apparel includes, but is not limited to: tank tops, tube tops, halter tops, swim suits, see-through, or any other form of immodest or revealing clothing. Visitors dressed inappropriately, as determined by detention staff, shall not be allowed to visit.
· All visitors and their belongings are subject to search upon entering the facility. Weapons, ammunition, illegal drugs, and smoking are not allowed in the Lobby or Video Visitation room.
· After visitation is complete, Visitors must leave the facility. Loitering is not allowed within the facility or on facility grounds.
· Family and friend visits are normally not allowed until the inmate is housed in a pod.
· Inmates must be in complete uniform and are to remain properly dressed during the visit.
· Only one inmate at the visitation screen during a visit. No inmate will disturb another inmate while visiting.
· Any damage to, or destruction of the video visitation screen will result in termination of family and friend visitation. Criminal charges will be filed for destruction of county property.
· Visitation will be denied or terminated at anytime it is deemed necessary to maintain security, order, or discipline of our facility
· Persons identified as having been incarcerated in the Morgan County Detention Facility with in the last ninety days shall not be allowed to visit.
· Persons identified as having active warrants shall be reported immediately to sworn personnel for possible action.
· Food and Drinks are prohibited from inside the visitation room.
All Visitors are subject to search once inside the facility.
The public may visit no more than one time per week, Monday through Saturday at this Decatur AL location. Visitors must sign inat least 15 minutes before their scheduled visits. If you schedule a visit and don't show up or show up late, you will not be allowed to visit the rest of that week, including Saturday. If a visit on Saturday is scheduled, and the visitor does not show up or shows up late, they will not be allowed to visit until the following Saturday. Repeated late arrival or no-show violations may result in longer suspension of visiting privileges. Inmates are allowed no more than one (1) visit per day. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian, unless they are visiting a parent. Unaccompanied minors (under age 18) visiting a parent must present a copy of their birth certificate. Children must remain with the parent at all times during the visit. All visitors must have acceptable identification. This includes a drivers license with picture identification, military ID, or other verifiable picture ID. Three (3) pieces of non-picture ID may substitute for picture ID.
No mail or messages for inmates will be accepted. Mail must go through the U.S. Mail. Visitors may only visit the inmate they have signed up to visit. Any visitor who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to visit. Inappropriate behavior, including the use of profanity, will not be permitted. No weapons will be permitted. All other items listed in the jail lobby are prohibited. There is a maximum of four (4) visitors per booth, including children, and the door must remain closed.
All visitors must wear appropriate clothing, including shoes and shirts. Restrictions on attire or appearance include: No miniskirts or similar attire; no low-cut or revealing necklines; no attire with obscene or offensive language; and no persons with a bare midriff will be permitted to visit. Visitors cannot bring items into the visiting area including weapons of any kind, purses, handbags, backpacks, diaper bags, food, drink, gum, baby bottles, pictures, books, toys, writing utensils, strollers or carriers, cell phones, cameras, or any other electronic devices.
Violation of the above restrictions may cause the visit to be cancelled or terminated, and visiting privileges may be suspended by the Morgan Sheriffs Department. The on-duty supervisor may cancel visits without notice due to circumstances within the jail.
