Winneshiek Co Jail - Visitation

Times and days are subject to change without notice

  • Monday 8:30 am - 4 pm
  • Thursday 9 am - 4 pm
  • Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
  • Saturday 10 am - 3:30 pm
  • Sunday 10 am - 3:30 pm

General Visitation Information

Winneshiek County Jail - Visitation

VISITING AN INMATE
Inmates are entitled to reasonable contact with their families and friends unless restricted by disciplinary or other sanctions for a specified period of time. Inmates may receive two visits per week for up to 30minutes.

  • Visits must be set up a day in advance.
  • NO VISITS ON HOLIDAYS
  • If the inmate is housed in Male General Population or Male Max, visitation is Monday and Saturday
  • If the inmate is housed in Female General Population or Female Max, visitation is Tuesday and Friday
  • If the inmate is housed in Swing Dorm or Special Status, visitation is Sunday and Thursday
  • If the inmate is housed in Work Release, visits are only once a week on Sunday

The Winneshiek County Jail reserves the right to refuse visitor access. Visitors are expected to abide by the following rules:

  • Must be listed on the inmate’s approved visitation list
  • Have a photo ID
  • Must be 18 years old, unless accompanied by legal guardian
  • Visitors are expected to adhere to a code of behavior that is appropriate and non-offensive to the other visitors.
  • Profanity, cursing and derogatory remarks are not allowed. Keep noise down to a minimum or you will be ordered to leave visitation area.
  • Visitors, including children, who are disruptive, will be ordered to leave the visitation area and visit time will end.
  • NO FOOD OR DRINK S ALLOWED IN THE VISITATION AREA
  • THERE WILL BE NO TOBACCO IN THE VISITATION AREA
  • Inmates and visitors will not be allowed to move from booth to booth, or visit with more than one inmate per visit
  • Other family members, especially children, should not be left to loiter in the other areas while visiting is in progress or while waiting for permission to enter the public visiting area in the confines of the jail.
  • Visitors must be dressed in proper street attire, which includes shoes and shirts. VISITS WILL BE DENIED TO INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE NOT IN PROPER STREET ATTIRE. Shoulders must be covered. Tank tops and tops with spaghetti straps are not allowed. Low cut shirts that show chest cleavage are not allowed. Shorts and skirts are not allowed if they are deemed inappropriate or too short. Pants must be worn at the waist.
  • Headwear of any kind is not allowed, unless for a verified religious reason and pre-approved by jail staff.
  • Only two (2) adult visitors will be allowed in the restricted visiting area, however, if a person is under the age of 18, a legal guardian must accompany them. All children who are accompanied by an adult must stay with adult at all times.
  • Personal property such as but not limited to, purses, cell phones, cameras, etc., is not allowed in the visitation room. Lockers are available for these items. Please turn off your cell phone when placing it in a locker.
  • Verbal or written messages between inmates housed in this facility or to the public WILL NOT be accepted or relayed.
  • Visitors who violate any of these rules may be removed from the inmate’s visitor list and won’t be allowed to visit in the future.
