Can I Send a Care Package to Someone in County Jail?

My daughter just got taken into custody this afternoon. She is at Jefferson County Correctional. I am trying to find out if she can receive care packages and what the rules are regarding what we can send her

County jails have widely varying policies on care packages, and the first step is always to call the facility directly and ask what their specific rules are. Some jails accept packages from family, others only allow packages from approved vendors, and some do not permit outside packages at all. There is no universal standard at the county level.

For facilities that do allow outside packages, items are typically restricted to approved clothing, hygiene products, and similar basics. Food is usually not permitted from family senders, though some facilities allow specific pre-packaged food items from approved vendors. Anything with logos, excess packaging, or items outside the approved list will likely be rejected.

For facilities that require or prefer vendor-sourced packages, a few services specialize in sending approved care packages directly to inmates at county jails. Companies like Union Supply Direct, Access Securepak, and Aramark Correctional Services operate approved programs at facilities across the country and ship directly from their catalogs to the jail. Each facility contracts with specific vendors, so confirming which service your daughter's jail uses is the key step.

The safest approach is to call Jefferson County Correctional, ask for the approved vendor and their current package policy, and order through that channel. Anything sent outside of that process is likely to be turned away.
