Does Phone Money Transfer With an Inmate to a New Prison?

If I deposited money off the adc website on an inmates phone account and he gets moved to another prison will he still have the money on his phone account?

Yes, as long as the transfer stays within the same state system the money should follow him. In the Arizona Department of Corrections system, phone accounts are tied to the inmate rather than the specific facility, which means funds deposited through the ADC website travel with the inmate when they move to another ADC prison.

The key phrase is within the system. A transfer from one ADC facility to another keeps everything intact. If he were to be transferred out of the ADC system entirely, such as to a federal facility or to another state's custody, that is a different situation and funds may not transfer automatically.

What can happen during an in-system transfer is a temporary gap in access. There is sometimes a processing period after arrival at the new facility before phone services are fully active on the inmate's account. The money is there but it may take a few days before he can actually use it while the new facility gets his account synced in their system.

If calls are not coming through shortly after a transfer and you know the funds are there, contacting the phone provider's customer service line directly with the account information is the fastest way to confirm everything transferred correctly and troubleshoot any connectivity issues on their end.

Keeping a record of your deposit confirmation and the transaction details is always smart in case anything needs to be verified after a move.
