How Does Commissary Work at Roxbury Correctional Institute?

Roxbury Correctional Institute- How does commissary work there? If I send my money to my husband, can he only buy big things like tv's once a month, once a week or how often? How often are inmates allowed to go to the commissary? I know in Balto City Jail, you made an order on Thursday and got it on Sunday. My husband said he can only buy his tv & clothes once every 6 months? Thank u!

Roxbury runs a commissary on a weekly schedule. Inmates can place orders once a week for regular items like food, hygiene products, and other approved goods. That part works the way most facilities do.

The six-month restriction on big-ticket items like televisions and clothing is a separate policy tied to spending limits. Major purchases like a TV eat up a large portion of the monthly spending allowance in one shot, and facilities manage that by creating longer purchasing windows for those items. The six-month period is essentially the interval at which inmates are allowed to make those higher-cost purchases without it being counted against their regular weekly commissary budget. It is not a punishment, it is how the facility structures the spending so that one large purchase does not wipe out everything else.

So the short version is: weekly commissary for everyday items, and a six-month cycle for big purchases like electronics and clothing. Keep money on his books consistently and the weekly commissary will keep him stocked on the things he needs between those larger purchase windows.
