How Long Does It Take for an Inmate to Get My Letter?

I sent my inmate friend a letter from this website and he has not received it yet. It's been almost a week, he said he never heard about this program soo how can he get my letter? Or find out about this program?

InmateAid's letter service runs through the US Postal Service, not the internet. Your friend does not need to know about the program or sign up for anything. He does not receive an email or a notification. He simply gets a physical letter delivered through normal mail call, the same as any letter sent from home. There is nothing for him to do on his end to receive it.

As for the timeline, letters typically take 2 to 3 business days to reach the facility. Once they arrive, the mailroom staff opens and inspects every piece of incoming mail before it is cleared for distribution. That process takes additional time and varies widely depending on the facility. Some places turn mail around quickly; others sit on it for days. Mail call runs Monday through Friday at most facilities, so weekends do not count. A week from sending to receiving is not unusual, especially if the letter arrived over a weekend or at a facility that runs a slower mailroom.

The two things that matter most for delivery are that the inmate ID number is correct and that the facility address is accurate. If both of those are right, the letter will get there. Patience is the main thing needed at this point. If it has been closer to two weeks with no delivery, reach out to InmateAid's support team and they can look into it on their end.
