Most questions are answered within a few hours. When your question has been responded to, you will receive a notification by email and the answer will also appear in your InmateAid account dashboard. Both places, so you will not miss it.

If your question did not get answered, there are a couple of reasons that happens. The most common one is that a very similar question has already been addressed somewhere in the archive. With over 5,000 questions and answers logged on this site, there is a good chance your situation has come up before in some form. Use the search bar on the Ask The Inmate page to browse by topic or keyword and you will often find exactly what you are looking for.

The other reason a question might not receive a direct response is if it asks about a specific named inmate. Those questions are not something we answer publicly, both for privacy reasons and because we simply do not have access to individual case information.

The questions that do get answered are the ones that have broad value, meaning the kind of question that dozens of other people are probably asking right now without knowing where to turn. Every answer in this archive was written because someone in a difficult situation needed straight information and could not find it anywhere else.

If your question is genuinely urgent and you have not been able to find an answer through the search, email aid@inmateaid.com directly and someone will respond personally.
