State prison in Texas is no joke, but the inner-workings of a prison are similar to the inner-workings of a small town. The vast majority of time is spent with uneventful comings and goings of guys jut trying to stay in a routine that makes their time go by as fsat as possible. If he was able to navigate the streets, he will figure things out in prison too. It is not like the TV shows, those are extreme cases in isolated incidents all over the country.
