Should I Worry About My Loved One's Safety in County Jail?

My soon to be husband is in pearl river county jail in Mississippi. I have heard bad things about this jail . Which maybe true or it may not be true. I just want to know is he ok or should I worry?

The stories that travel fastest about any jail are the worst ones. That does not mean they are representative of what most people experience day to day.

County jails are not comfortable places, but they are also not the chaotic environments that get depicted in television and film. Inmates figure out the social rules quickly, and most people inside are focused on one thing: getting out as soon as possible. That shared interest creates a kind of practical order. Nobody wants extra time on their sentence over a conflict with someone they do not know.

The inmates who have the hardest time are almost always the ones who create friction, show disrespect, get into other people's business, or fail to read the basic social codes of the environment. Someone calm, respectful, and keeps to themselves navigates even difficult facilities without serious incident in the vast majority of cases.

The hardest part of county jail for most people is not danger. It is boredom. Days are long, routines are monotonous, and there is little to occupy the mind. That is where you can make a real difference from the outside. Books and magazine subscriptions are genuinely the most valuable things you can send. Reading gives your family member something to look forward to, keeps the mind active, and makes the time pass faster. Send them consistently and keep them coming.
