Free phone calls are usually in the county jail when first booked, but it is not a guarantee. We don't think that they offer a free call in the state system

I don't know how it really work . i trying to be able to have someone call me from state jail. I already have an account with Securus. But it looks like i got to have a different account for him since he move to state jail. The use different phone lines.

The phone service at a particular correctional center is set up through bid process. In this case, Securus has the contract for all inmate outbound calling and to tape record the calls - essentially a monopoly. Therefore, you have to use them to receive any calls. We don't have a local number available, so my question, how can I get an available local number and a cheap rate so I can talk to him its been over a month now?

You have to get the number to your inmate. No facility will pass on messages to inmates (as a general strict rule). I have to register my phone number for the TDJC prison system and I recently set up an account on inmateaid for a local number. However I have a prepaid cell phone and they don't accept prepaid cell phones to receive calls. what do I register the number as, landline or cell phone?

I have another question... If I pay for the discount phone service is that helping only me not the inmate? Is he still having to purchase a phone card to call or can I have a service where I pay for his calls also without sending money for him to buy a card. I hope this is making sense. The Discount Telephone Service helps whomever is paying the bill for the calls.
