We are working diligently with our software engineers to come up with a service that will give the international member a solution. It is high on our priority list to complete and will happily place you on a growing list of people interested in this service. You can use InmateAid to write letters and send photos through our system at very reasonable rates. Your inmate can write you back through InmateAid,

InmateAid gives you a local number that you use to set up with the phone carrier - like Global Tel Link. Make sure that it's a completely separate account from your long distance account.  Add money to the new account and now the calls will be billed only a local calling charge (no per minute price) wiping out that $1.00+ per minute charge you've been paying.

You will have to notify your inmate of the new number he is dialing out so it doesn't need a name attached. You will have to fund this number with the prison carrier separate from the long distance number you use now. The carriers won't transfer numbers, BUT this account will be at the LOCAL rate which should save you about 70% off what you are paying now. We will have your new number within a few hours.

When your inmate calls you now, it is a LONG DISTANCE call with rates ranging from 23 cents to over $1.00 per minute. We provide you with a LOCAL telephone number - local to the prison area code your inmate is housed. The local rates are more like 5-6 cents per minute. The service is for prisons or jails or ANY correctional facility where inmates have access to a telephone in the US.  Your account is pending until we email you your number. If for any reason we cannot service your inmate, we will gladly refund your money.

InmateAid will be offering an easy-to-use calling service in our own brand that will be available shortly.  We are not comfortable recommending other brands for various reasons. We will notify you and ALL the members of the community when the service is ready to use.

Phones are usually turned on at 6am and are turned off at 9:30pm.  There may also be times during the day where there is no access to them - the rules inside every facility change without notice and the inmates have to deal with the inconsistencies.
