Will a Letter Follow an Inmate Who Gets Transferred?

What if I sent an inmate a letter from here and that inmate got moved will they still get that letter to that inmate??

Not reliably. If your inmate was transferred before the letter arrived at the facility, there is a good chance it comes back to us rather than following them to the new location. Facilities do not forward inmate mail the way the postal service forwards residential mail.

If the letter is returned, InmateAid will notify you immediately, research the new address, and resend it to the correct location. You will not lose the letter and you will not be charged again for the resend.

The best way to avoid the issue going forward is to confirm your inmate's current facility before sending anything. If a transfer is recent or expected, wait until placement is confirmed before placing a new order.
