Will the prison take money we deposit to pay on his restitution?

My son was recently incarcerated at a CCA facility. Someone told me that if I put more than 40.00 on his books that they will take it to pay on his restitution. Is this true? And Thank You for your time and help. This is a difficult situation to be in.

If he has a restitution there will be a percentage deduction from every deposit made in his inmate trust account.

If he has a restitution there will be a percentage deduction from every deposit made in his inmate trust account. It does not matter if the facility is CCA, GEO, state or federal, they all do this.
