The Cass County MI Jail is a detention center located at 321 N M-62 Hwy Cassopolis, MI which is operated locally by the Cass County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Cass County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Cassopolis Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Michigan here.

Inmates in the Cass County Jail are offered programs and services to help them during their time spent. Low-security inmates also have the opportunity to become Trustees. Trustees are allowed to perform various duties in the Jail. Duties such as cleaning, laundry, and kitchen worker to name a few. Cass County also employs a Community Corrections officer who handpicks certain inmates for work release. These inmates are allowed to go to their regular jobs while in Jail. This option helps inmates reenter society and is a big help in the Rehabilitation process.

Inmates have the opportunity to attend a weekly church service in the Jail. Inmates have a choice on whether they would like to go to school and earn credit toward getting a GED. There are also counseling sessions available for Inmates who are struggling with a Drug and/or Alcohol addictions. Inmates also have medical service with a Trained Medical Staff. Staff is available for the inmates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Inmate Funds
Inmate Funds can be deposited in many ways in person at the Sheriff's Office or Online.
Individuals wishing to add inmate funds online can use the Express Account system.

If you would like to add funds in person, there are many different ways available at the Cass County Sheriff's Office. If you have a debit card or credit card, an EZ Kiosk is available in the lobby for use during business hours. Cash is also accepted at the Sheriff's Department and will be added to the Inmate's account. Personal Checks are not accepted at any time.

Inmate Expenses
Inmates will be charged for their served time after they receive a sentence.
The rate for a sentenced Inmate is $15.00 per day. An Inmate will also have to pay for all medical expenses incurred while they are incarcerated.
The Inmate will be allowed to participate in the commissary once all accrued expenses are paid. If an Inmate cannot pay the expenses, arrangements can be made for debt repayment.

Bonds
When an Inmate is arrested many will be booked and given a set Bond amount to be released. Some inmates will have to be Arraigned in front of a Judge. (This occurs weekday afternoons.)
Fees are assessed to all Inmates being brought into the jail. They are:
$12.00 Booking Fee
$10.00 Warrant Fee (only applies if the Inmate was arrested because of a warrant.)
Both of these fees will be added on to the Bond amount.

The Inmate cannot be Bonded out without first paying these Fees.
Bonds can be paid online using the Express Account.
Bonds can also be paid in cash at the Cass County Sheriff's Department at any time.

Visitation Rules

Each Inmate is allowed two half hour visits on visitation day. Only two individuals are allowed to visit at a time.
Visitors under the age of 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All visitors under the age of 17 years must be under constant supervision by the parent or adult. If a visitor is the victim in a case pending against the inmate he/she will not be allowed to visit the inmate.
