The living units at Illinois River Correctional Center encompass four X-type housing units, a receiving and orientation unit, a segregation unit, and a 15-bed health care unit, ensuring the diverse needs of inmates are addressed. Additionally, the facility houses a special management unit, providing enhanced security measures for inmates housed there.

Inmates at Illinois River Correctional Center have the opportunity to engage in meaningful work through the correctional industries program, particularly in a large-scale bakery operation.
