The McClain County OK Jail is a detention center located at 121 North Second Ave Purcell, OK which is operated locally by the McClain County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. McClain County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Purcell Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Oklahoma here.

The Detention Division of the Sheriff's Office is currently under the command of the Detention Director, along with three Sergeants and seven full and part-time detention deputies, they run the county's 56-bed detention facility.

The main objective of the McClain County Detention Center shall be to provide secure detention for those who have violated the law and present a threat to the community and subject to the determination of the courts.

Inmate Funds

Inmate shall not be permitted to keep money on his/her person while incarcerated. All inmate funds will be controlled by detention personnel in a fair, ethical, and honest manner. Inmate fund deposits and disbursements must be in accordance with procedures adopted by the Oklahoma State Auditor's Office.
No cash will be accepted after an inmate is booked into the Detention Center. Money on an inmate at the time of Booking will be placed on the inmate account. Inmates with less then $5.00 will have that money placed in their property and it will be returned to them upon release.

The McClain County Detention Center ONLY accepts U.S. money orders.

Deposits will be accepted at the Sheriff's Office, located on the first floor of the courthouse. Persons dropping off money for an inmate must provide a valid picture I.D.

Deposits received after 2:00 PM on Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday will not be available for Commissary Services until TUESDAY.

At the time the inmate is being released from the McClain County Detention Center, if there are funds due to that inmate, a check will be given Monday - Friday between normal business hours. Any inmate released can obtain their check the following business day. Any money left of the inmates commissary account will remain on their account until retrieved. Must show photo identification.

Inmate Calling

All outgoing calls, local or long distance, will be collect calls only or the inmate may buy a Pre-Paid Phone Card from Commissary.

There will be a fifteen (15) minute limit on all phone calls if other inmates are waiting to use the telephone.

Inmates shall not abuse the use of Pre-Paid Phone Cards (to make prank calls, harass a civilian or an Attorney, Probation Officer or the Court, etc.). Inmates found to be abusing the Phone Cards may face potential Criminal Charges, filed by the Agency, Department or civilian, as well as possible facility disciplinary actions, etc.

There shall be no incoming calls for inmates permitted in the facility. Emergency/Special Circumstances

Telephone usage may be suspended during an Emergency or Special Circumstances, as dictated by the on-duty Supervisor.

Commissary

Commissary shall be provided to all inmates through a contracted program by the McClain County Sheriff's Office.

Inmate Commissary shall be held once per week. Commissary may not be held only during the weeks of which a Holiday occurs. Inmates will be notified prior to a Holiday.

Indigent inmates shall be provided the necessary personal hygiene items and writing material.

The management of the Commissary funds shall be strictly controlled in accordance with procedures adopted by the Auditor of State.

General Cleaning

It is the policy of the McClain County Sheriff's Office to maintain the entire facility in a clean and orderly fashion. Staff members will supervise all cleaning activities conducted in each housing unit.

Cleaning of Inmate Housing Unit / Bunk / Restroom / Shower Areas:
Inmates are required to conduct daily cleaning of their housing unit and living areas. This cleaning process includes, but is not limited to; mopping, sweeping, disinfecting, dusting, washing, polishing and scrubbing the entire area. The inmate will be provided with appropriate cleaning utensils to conduct the following cleaning activities in their assigned housing unit, bathing and bunk areas.
Garbage and trash receptacles will be emptied and cleaned daily.
Toilets, sinks, drinking fountains and shower areas will be scrubbed, cleaned and disinfected daily.
Mirrors, walls, doors and windows will be cleaned daily.
All facility property - i.e. Televisions, tables, chairs, bunks, phones, etc. - will be washed and cleaned daily.
Floors will be dusted, vacuumed and mopped daily.
All books, papers and other items will be picked up and put away daily.

Visitation Information

It is the policy of the McClain County Sheriff's Office to enable and encourage inmates to maintain contact with family and friends through regular visits. Restrictions on visits are for the limited purpose of using the detention staff judiciously and maintaining the security and order of the detention center. Visitation areas shall be secure and free from obstructions and obstacles to normal conversations and viewing. Detention officials will not be permitted to listen to conversation, but may observe the visitation.

General Visitation shall be on the following days and times:

Tuesday 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Wednesday 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Each inmate shall be permitted a fifteen (15) minute visit per visitation day, unless circumstances dictate temporary suspension of Inmate Visitation. Inmates are allowed up to two (2) people on their visitation day. Any child under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Visitor Requirements:

Visitors must be approved and must be on the visitation schedule
Visitors must show photo identification
Visters must leave ALL personal items (purses, cell phones, cameras, food, etc...)in their vehicle. They will only be allowed car keys.
Visitor under the age of eighteen (18) years of age do not have to be on the list, but must be accompanied by an approved adult from the inmate's visitation list.

Denying Visitation:

Visitor presents a clear and present danger to security.
Visitor is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Visitor refuses to show proper identification.
Visitor must be wearing appropriate attire.
Visitor has been incarcerated in this facility in the past 6 months.
Inmate refuses the visit / or inmate is on disciplinary action.
