The Monroe Co Jail is a detention center located at 4250 Manor Dr Stroudsburg, PA which is operated locally by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Monroe County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Stroudsburg Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Jail Regulations

  1. The sheriff and will be responsible for these items at all times during confinement. Linens will be changed once weekly.
  2. Each inmate will be responsible for doing his/her share in keeping the jail facility clean:
    • The cells shall be swept daily and the floors and walls washed as needed.
    • The latrine shall be cleaned daily.
    • Trash shall be placed in proper receptacles.
    • Good personal hygiene will be the rule-with bathing at least ONCE per day.
  3. The entire jail facility will be subject to inspection at any time.
  4. All prisoner mail will be subject to inspection at any time.
  5. Mail call will be once daily.
  6. No gambling will be permitted.
  7. Laundry shall be cleaned by the inmate’s family until such time as funds are available for a laundry
    facility.
  8. One TV and one radio will be allowed per cell.
  9. ALL TVs and radios shall be turned off between the hours of 11 pm-6 am.
  10. All personal items kept in the cell shall be placed under the bunk and kept in a neat pile or box.
  11. There will be no more than three games to a cell and someone will be responsible for keeping them
    picked up.
  12. No Tobacco Products will be allowed in the Jail
  13. Inmates are required to be fully dressed during meals, any time in the community area and any time outside the cell area.
  14. NO ink pens allowed in the cells.
  15. NO tattooing allowed in the jail.
  16. NO aerosol or spray cans allowed.
  17. All personal hygiene items will be in new, clear plastic unopened containers.
  18. All reading material will be inspected before allowed into the jail.
  19. Phone service may be monitored at any time.
  20. The property will only be allowed during regular visiting days.
  21. Inmates reporting to jail will only be accepted at 8 am and 6 pm.
  22. Lights out time are between the hours of 11 pm-6 am.
  23. Inmates shall have their family bring them necessary items. Deputies WILL NOT buy items for inmates.
  24. Items inmates may have are listed on a separate attached sheet to the Jail Policies.
  25. Inmates may buy phone cards for phone usage or call collect from a phone inside the cell.
  26. Inmates are required to get up during mealtime and retrieve their meals.
  27. Failure to comply with any of the Jail Policies will result in disciplinary action.

Visitation Policy

No food, no beverages, no cell phones are allowed in the lobby area! No smoking allowed anywhere on facility grounds.

Upon Entrance to the Correctional Facility

  • All visitors must sign the register when entering the main lobby.
  • Photo identification is required, such as a driver's license. Birth certificates are required for anyone under eighteen (18) years of age. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Jackets, coats and other outerwear must be placed on the coat rack or stored in lockers.
  • Any articles not fitting into the lobby lockers shall be searched and retained by the receptionist.
  • The lobby officer may request you to secure other property before a visit.
  • All packages and valuables are subject to search.
  • Official visitors must secure all weapons with the receptionist.
  • No weapons of any kind are permitted in the facility.
  • All visitors are subject to be screened by a metal detector.
  • All visitors are to be stamped on the left hand before entering the facility past the main lobby.
  • All visitors requesting to enter the facility past the main lobby shall pass through the metal detector and are subject to a clothing search.
  • During Visitation
  • Visitors may only visit two (2) inmates in one day. (Exceptions can be made for more than two (2) inmates of the same immediate family).
  • Visitation is limited to one-half (1/2) hour. Two (2) visitors are allowed to split the visit (15 minutes each). No more than two (2) visitors are permitted. Visitors will not be permitted to switch chairs or phones to speak to another inmate. Should you or your guest do this, your visit may be terminated.
  • Loitering, standing, waving, etc. at or near visitation doors will not be tolerated. This will be cause for termination of the visit and possible removal from the lobby.
