The Omaha Correctional Center (OCC), situated on a 37-acre site near Eppley Airfield in East Omaha, commenced operations on April 24, 1984, with an initial capacity for 240 inmates, constructed at a cost of approximately $17 million. Today, the facility accommodates up to 766 inmates across double and multiple occupancy rooms, with an operational capacity adjusted over the years. An additional housing unit added in 1994 expanded OCC's design capacity to include 396 inmate beds.
Since 1986, OCC has maintained accreditation from the American Correctional Association. Operating as a medium and minimum security facility, OCC features distinct areas within its premises, including a separate entrance building and an inner complex. The inner complex houses various amenities such as an indoor/outdoor visiting area, a library, a religious center, dental and medical facilities, a restrictive housing unit, academic and pre-employment training areas, a central physical plant, laundry facilities, a kitchen and dining room, Cornhusker State Industries, a canteen, and a gymnasium.
OCC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
