When someone you care about gets locked up, it's tough to figure out all the ins and outs of jail life. From sending mail to visiting, there are a lot of things to sort out. And getting info about the arrest? Not always easy. That's where this webpage comes in handy. It's here to help you get a handle on how things work at Osage County KS Jail so you can stay connected and support your loved one behind bars.

The Osage Co Jail is a detention center located at 702 Ash St Lyndon, KS which is operated locally by the Osage County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Osage County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Lyndon Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Kansas here.

The jail can house 32 inmates. The jail consists of an office area for the jailers, two holding cells for inmates that are only here to be processed and soon released or for detoxification of inmates that are under the influence of alcohol/drugs, a dayroom that allows inmates to use one television or use phones, or have interaction with other inmates.

The jailers who work in the jail facility have multi-tasked jobs as well. Jailers are expected to process/release inmates, serve the inmates food that is made by the cook, help wash inmate laundry, clean the jail facility, supervise the inmates 24 hours a day for their safety and protection. They do this by performing jail checks which they walk around the jail and make sure that the inmates don’t need anything, that all inmates are well, that inmates are following the rules of the jail, and they usher inmates in and out of visitation on Sundays during visitation hours. Jailers usually prepare supper for the inmates as the cook usually only prepare breakfast and lunch. The jailers also transport inmates that are arrested in other jurisdictions on our arrest warrants, and they take prisoners to court and provide court security.

All letters, notes, and cards, both incoming and outgoing, must be sent by US Mail. Books brought in will be considered donated to the jail. All items must be approved by the Jail Sergeant prior to being taken to inmates. The facility is a non-smoking facility. All bonds will be set within 48 hours.
