The Palm Beach Main Jail is a detention center located at 3228 Gun Club Rd West Palm Beach, FL which is operated locally by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Palm Beach County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, West Palm Beach Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Florida here.

The Main Detention Center, situated at the Sheriff’s Headquarters Complex on Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach, Florida, adjacent to the Palm Beach International Airport, spans 835,000 square feet across a 52.8-acre parcel of land. As the largest of the four correctional facilities operated by the PBSO, it boasts significant security capabilities, catering to high-risk inmates, federal inmates, and those requiring specialized medical or mental health care, as well as individuals who cannot be accommodated elsewhere.

Constructed in 1993 for $52 million, the Main Detention Center comprises three interconnected buildings. The South Tower, a twelve-story high-rise structure made of concrete and steel, stands as the centerpiece, flanked by the six-story East and West Towers, originally built in 1983. Together, they offer a total bed capacity of 2,166, inclusive of infirmary and special management bedding.

The South Tower alone accommodates 1,285 inmates, while the East and West Towers house 418 and 404 inmates, respectively. Although primarily populated by pre-trial, un-sentenced adult males, the Main Detention Center also provides housing for adult females and juveniles. With an average inmate population of 1,769, it remains the largest correctional facility under the jurisdiction of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
