The Prairie County AR Jail is a detention center located at 200 Court House Square
PO Box 1021 Des Arc, AR which is operated locally by the Prairie County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Prairie County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Des Arc Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. THE PRAIRIE COUNTY JAIL IS THE ONLY DETENTION FACILITY IN THE COUNTY. WE HOLD ALL OF THE DETAINEES FOR EACH CITY. WE CAN HOUSE UP TO 50 DETAINEES INCLUDING THREE 309-INMATES. THE JAIL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FEEDING AND MEDICATING THESE PEOPLE AS WELL AS THEIR GENERAL OVERALL WELL BEING. THE JAIL EMPLOYES FULL TIME JAILERS WITH A PART TIME SWING POSITION THAT IS SHARED WITH DISPATCH.
