The RCCC is a detention center located at 12500 Bruceville Rd Elk Grove, CA which is operated locally by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Sacramento County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Elk Grove Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for California here.

The Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center (RCCC) serves as the primary facility for inmates sentenced to County Jail from Sacramento County Courts. The prison grounds are located next to Franklin Field, a public airport mostly used for general aviation. With a rising number of pre-sentence detainees, RCCC plays a crucial role in managing population levels at the Main Jail to comply with Federal mandates. Additionally, it houses inmates awaiting transfer to other jurisdictions, federal prisoners under contract with the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, and reciprocal prisoners from neighboring counties. As a Type II facility, RCCC processes newly arrested individuals from law enforcement agencies in the southern part of Sacramento County, with over 180 Sheriff's Office employees ensuring a safe and secure environment.

Inmates' health and well-being are prioritized at RCCC, with essential items not available on-site potentially accepted based on the discretion of the Gatehouse officer. Procedures for inmate property releases are strictly managed, with specific hours and requirements outlined for prompt processing. The Sheriff's Office Jail Industries Program at RCCC offers skill training to inmates, producing goods for government agencies and nonprofits. Successful completion of training earns inmates a certificate of competency, with program revenue supporting its self-sufficiency and earning recognition statewide.

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Office Reentry Services Unit at RCCC takes an innovative approach to rehabilitation by providing comprehensive programs in vocational, educational, and treatment services. The aim is to reduce recidivism rates and equip offenders with tools for successful reintegration into the community. Jail Industries offers various products and services, including banners, signs, awards, and vehicle decals, with inquiries welcomed via email at JailIndustries@sacsheriff.com.

The Reentry Services Unit publishes a periodical, the Reentry Services Unit Program Guide, highlighting rehabilitation approaches and individual programs offered, along with historical recidivism rates. Additionally, a Community Resource Guide is provided to offenders, offering updated information on resources available post-release to facilitate their transition from incarceration to the community.

Visitation Information

Before planning your visit to the facility, it's advisable to contact our visitation phone line at 916-874-1927 to ensure that the inmate you wish to visit is not currently under quarantine status.

For all visitors, a strict dress code is enforced. Prohibited attire includes revealing clothing such as tube tops, short skirts or shorts, and clothing promoting violence, hate, drug use, profanity, or gangs. Footwear suitable for potentially uneven ground is required. Allowed items are limited to wedding/engagement rings and medical alert tags.

Upon arrival, visitors are permitted to bring only one car key or door remote, identification, and money. All other personal items must be securely stored in the visitor's vehicle. For visitors with infants, a clear plastic bag containing essential baby items may be brought into the visit area, while diaper bags, strollers, or car seats are not allowed.

Visitors and their vehicles are subject to search while on jail property. All visitors undergo a search (pat-down or metal detector) before being allowed to visit. It's crucial to ensure freedom from any metal objects that could activate the metal detector, as activation may result in loss of visiting privileges.

A maximum of two visitors, including minors/children, are permitted per inmate. Please note that unforeseen circumstances may occasionally necessitate visitation cancellations without prior notice. Updates regarding significant changes to visitation schedules will be communicated via the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office Twitter feed. Follow @sacsheriff on Twitter for timely notifications.
