Located at 386 Redemption Wy in McCormick, SC, McCormick CI carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. McCormick CI offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.

McCormick CI houses male inmates at a close custody level and offers literacy and GED preparation education in collaboration with the McCormick School District Adult Continuing Education Program and Corrections Learning Network. Vocational training includes Carpentry, Automotive, and opportunities within Prison Industries.

The institution boasts a modern production facility focusing on upholstered furniture, modular office systems, and powder painting for metal products. Notably, its Modular Furniture Plant not only manufactures but also installs modular systems, prioritizing customer service and satisfaction during installations.

Routine medical and dental care is available onsite at McCormick CI, with 24-hour medical coverage provided. In terms of programs, inmates can participate in initiatives such as Prison Fellowship, PUP (Dog Grooming and Training), Religious Services, Volunteer Services, Recreational Services, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Faith-based Character-based Housing Units. Additionally, the facility offers a Second Chance Program, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Education, and "Impact of Crime" classes.

McCormick CI extends its services to the community through programs like "Operation Behind Bars," allowing at-risk youth and adults to tour the prison and gain insight into inmates' experiences, shedding light on the factors contributing to criminal behavior and life behind bars. Through these initiatives, McCormick CI strives to foster rehabilitation, education, and community awareness while serving its primary function as a correctional institution.

McCormick CI maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Visitation Information

Visitation is now open on Saturdays and Sundays for all institutions not on covid quarantine.

Visits must be scheduled ahead of time on the SCDC/GTL scheduler. If you have not created an account, click here to do so.

Visits will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be scheduled in 2-hour blocks. General population inmates with visitation privileges will be allowed four in-person visits per month.

Inmates may have one visit per weekend and up to four visits per month.

Inmates may have up to four visitors at a time, one of which must be an adult. Children of all ages can visit. Children age 10 and older must have a government-issued photo ID to visit. Children age nine and younger must show a long-form birth certificate.
