Located at 960 St Rte 212 in Tiptonville, TN, NWCX carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. NWCX offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.

Northwest Correctional Complex (NWCX) is a mixed custody facility accommodating medium, maximum, and close custody male inmates, with a maximum capacity of 2,438 offenders. Inmates have access to adult basic education courses and opportunities to obtain a high school equivalency. Moreover, select inmates are employed in supportive roles within the prison, including custodial maintenance and food preparation. Many inmates participate in the community service program, contributing labor for tasks like roadway cleaning and landscaping.

Situated in Lake County, NWCX is one of Tennessee's prototypically designed prisons and serves as the primary educational institution within the state's Department of Correction (TN DOC) system. The educational program offered at NWCX encompasses special education services, Adult Basic Education, GED preparation, Title 1, and vocational education programs.

Given the absence of industrial activities at NWCX, the focus has shifted towards education and community service initiatives. Annually, the complex provides over 100,000 hours of community service work to state and local government agencies, as well as non-profit organizations, contributing to the rehabilitation and integration of inmates back into society.

For communication purposes, inmates can purchase telephone credits in "whole" dollar amounts, with a minimum purchase amount of $5.00. These measures aim to facilitate communication with loved ones and maintain connections outside the prison environment.

Inmate Locator

NWCX maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Ask The Inmate

Ask a former inmate questions at no charge. The inmate answering has spent considerable time in the federal prison system, state and county jails, and in a prison that was run by the private prison entity CCA. Ask your question or browse previous questions in response to comments or further questions of members of the InmateAid community.
