INTRO

If your loved one is approaching release from a Utah state prison, the state operates six Community Correctional Centers directly - no contracted private providers. The Utah Department of Corrections runs all six facilities through its Release and Reentry Division, serving offenders on probation or recently paroled who need housing, additional treatment, or community stabilization support.

Five of the six CCCs are concentrated in Salt Lake County and Weber County (Ogden). The sixth - Timpanogos Community Treatment Center - opened in 2024 in Utah County, making it the first CCC south of Salt Lake City. The centers range in size from 60 beds to 154 beds, with the full Salt Lake metro cluster offering both male and female tracks.

The two women's facilities are Orange Street Community Correctional Center at 80 S. Orange Street, Salt Lake City (Salt Lake County, 60 beds) and Atherton Community Treatment Center at 2588 W. 2365 South, West Valley City (Salt Lake County, 60 beds).

For federal inmates, Utah falls under BOP Residential Reentry Management Denver. The GEO Group operates the federal RRC in Salt Lake City with 95 beds - pull the current address from bop.gov.

In May 2026, UDC launched Project ARCH - a new 180-bed program for homeless Utahns with criminal records, housed within existing and remodeled CCCs. Funded by more than $45 million from the 2026 Legislature, this initiative is actively expanding the reentry capacity of Utah's existing halfway house infrastructure.

BONNEVILLE CCC - UTAH'S SEX OFFENDER AND MENTAL HEALTH TRACK

Bonneville Community Correctional Center at 1141 S. 2475 West, Salt Lake City is unique in this directory: UDC explicitly documents that its staff works to "stabilize and transition parolees, including sex offenders and mentally ill offenders, to the community." This makes Bonneville one of the few state-operated CCCs in any state directory that openly designates placement for registered sex offenders. TIMPANOGOS - UTAH COUNTY'S FIRST CCC

PROJECT ARCH - EXPANDED CAPACITY IN 2026

Project ARCH (Accountability and Assessment, Reentry and Response, and Coordination and Compassion for High Utilizers) is taking shape within existing and remodeled CCCs as of May 2026. The 180-bed program targets homeless Utahns with criminal records - the intersection of the state's reentry and homelessness crises. Families with loved ones who have both housing instability and criminal records should ask UDC about ARCH eligibility.

SEX OFFENDER RESTRICTIONS IN UTAH

Utah law (UCA §77-27-21.7) prohibits registered sex offenders from residing within 1,000 feet of schools, playgrounds, parks, and other locations where minors assemble. However, Bonneville CCC in Salt Lake City is explicitly designated to serve sex offenders on parole - making it a documented exception.
