The Washington County KS Jail is a detention center located at 301 B St Washington, KS which is operated locally by the Washington County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Washington County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Washington Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. PUTTING MONEY ON AN INMATE’S ACCOUNT

1. The only way to put money on an inmate’s account is to mail a money order, filled out to the inmate, or to bring cash to the visitation window.

2. We are not connected to Sedgwick County or any other Counties systems, so putting money on their account at Sedgwick County or any other Counties, will not be available to the inmate for use.

MAIL

1. An inmate can receive photographs, letters and money orders in the mail.

2. Do not send envelopes, paper, stamps, printed materials or anything else. These items are considered contraband and will be returned to the sender.

3. Clothing can be sent by mail but only if prior approval from jail staff is received before sending. Items that can be approved to be mailed are; underwear, socks, and t-shirts that are white and brand new, still in the package.

4. Any publications that are mailed must be sent directly from the publisher and must be approved by jail staff before it is sent or it will be returned.

JAIL PROCEDURES FOR VISITATION

1. Visitation is Thursday through Sunday by appointment only from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Appointments can be made by calling 785-325-2293 and requesting to speak with the jail.

3. The only things allowed to be brought to the inmate is cash or money orders to be applied to the inmates account, new in the package underwear (white), socks (white), and t-shirts (white). All other items will be rejected unless you have prior approval from jail staff.

4. All visitors are required to have a valid photo I.D. and all children under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by an adult at all times during the visit.

5. No clothing that reveals bare shoulders, bare midriff, or any part of the breast.

6. No see-through or braless attire.

7. No mini-skirts or slit-skirts/dresses.

8. No shorts, except for children ten or under.

9. No Capri pants that do not extend below the knee.

10. No bare feet.

11. No clothing that proclaims gang affiliation or promotes drug/alcohol use.

12. Inmates are allowed two 1/2 hour visits or one 1 hour visit per week.
