The South Central Regional Jail is a low/medium-security detention center located at 1001 Centre Way Charleston, WV which is operated locally by the Jackson Regional Authority and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates have been here for less than five years. South Central Regional Jail accepts inmates from the Jackson County Sheriff's arrests and surrounding towns, Charleston Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. The South Central Regional Jail is located in the Capitol City of Charleston. This facility has been in operation since 1993 and contains the state’s only Forensic Evaluation Unit.

Family and friends of WV Division of Corrections inmates may deposit money to inmate trust fund accounts by the following methods:

The Accelerated Parole Program (Policy Directive 454.07) shall be made available to inmates serving a sentence with a parole eligibility date, except sentences of Life with Mercy and Habitual Life. However, this program shall not be available to any inmate to which one or more of the following may apply:

  1. Is serving a sentence for, or has a criminal conviction for, a felony crime of violence against a person.
  2. Is serving a sentence for, or has a felony conviction, involving the use, presentment, or brandishing of a firearm.
  3. Is serving a sentence, or has a felony conviction, for a crime where the victim was a minor child.
  4. Is serving a sentence, or has a felony conviction, for a crime where the crime resulted in the victim's death.
  5. Is serving a sentence for more than one (1) felony conviction for a controlled substance offense on which the inmate is serving a consecutive sentence.
  6. Is serving a sentence on an offense for which there is a mandatory notification period under WV Code Section 62-12-23.
  7. Is presently incarcerated due to parole revocation for a new felony conviction, to WV Code 62-12-19(h).
  8. Is presently incarcerated in another jurisdiction, with a consecutive/concurrent WVDOC sentence.

  • Call (304) 558-1339 on the days designated below.
  • Starting at 8:00 am, calls will be taken on a first call first serve basis until all visitation time slots are filled.
  • Please have the following information available for each adult visitor:

  • Only one visit per day, and inmates may only have two (2) visits per week.
  • If you arrive late for your visit you will only receive the remaining time in your scheduled time slot.

No clothing that is provocative, tight (i.e. spandex, leggings, jeggings, etc.), see-through, or low cut
(females are required to wear bras).
· No skirts or shorts shorter than three inches above the knee.
· No bib overalls.
· No excessive jewelry.
· No tank tops - all shirts must have sleeves, male or female NO EXCEPTIONS.
· No hats, scarves, coats, jackets, hoodies, keys, lighters, wallets, purses or cell phones allowed in visitation –

Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or submit a notarized statement from the parent or legal guardian authorizing the visit. Only non-incarcerated parents or legal guardians may authorize juvenile visitation. If not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian the visitor must be accompanied by an authorized adult visitor and must have a signed, notarized.

  • From Interstate 64 East or West: Exit at US Route 119 South, Oakwood Road; travel 4.8 miles South on US Route 119 and turn left onto Southridge Boulevard; travel 2/10 mile on Southridge Boulevard and turn right on Centre Way; travel 6/10 of a mile to 1001 Centre Way.
