The Central Regional Jail is a low/medium-security detention center located at 300 Days Dr Sutton, WV which is operated locally by the Braxton Regional Authority and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates have been here for less than five years. Central Regional Jail accepts inmates from the Braxton County Sheriff's arrests and surrounding towns, Sutton Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. The Central Regional Jail, situated in Braxton County, was an early adopter of the podular design, now standard across West Virginia's Regional Jails. The facility serves several counties, including Braxton, Calhoun, Clay, Gilmer, Lewis, Nicholas, Roane, and Webster.
