How to Send Money to an Inmate in Wyoming

How to deposit money to a Wyoming DOC or county jail inmate. Access Corrections for all WDOC state prisons, approved visitor list required, three deposit methods with confirmed fees, and county jail differences.

If someone you love is locked up in Wyoming, getting money into their account covers commissary - food, hygiene, phone time, writing supplies - and keeps the connection alive. Wyoming's Department of Corrections (WDOC) uses Access Corrections (also called Access Secure Deposits) for all inmate trust fund deposits. There is one requirement before you can send anything: you must be on the inmate's approved visitor list. No deposits are processed for anyone not on that list.

Wyoming splits adult corrections between WDOC for state sentences, and county jails operated by county sheriffs. WDOC operates five adult correctional facilities. Wyoming has 23 counties, each with its own detention center or jail.

Approved visitor list required. Before making any deposit, confirm you are on the inmate's approved visitor list. If you are not approved, the deposit will not be processed. Contact the facility or the inmate to get added to the list before sending money.

You need the inmate's WDOC number for all deposit methods. Find it using the WDOC Offender Search at corrections.wyo.gov.

County jails: vendor varies across 23 counties

Wyoming has 23 counties, each with its own detention center operated by the county sheriff. County jails are entirely independent from WDOC and set their own deposit vendors.

Laramie County Detention Center (Cheyenne), at 1910 Pioneer Ave, uses ICSolutions for phone services. For deposit information call 307-633-4700 or check laramiecountywy.gov. Laramie County is Wyoming's largest county and holds both pretrial detainees and sentenced inmates awaiting transfer to state prison.

Campbell County Detention Center (Gillette), at 600 W. Boxelder Rd, uses NCIC for phone services. For deposit information call 307-687-6138.

The deposit vendor is county-specific - the only reliable way to find the current deposit vendor for a specific Wyoming county jail is to check that county sheriff's website or call the facility directly.

Accounts do not transfer between systems. When your person moves from a county jail to a WDOC state prison, the county account stays with the county. Set up new deposits through Access Corrections using the WDOC number - after confirming you are on the approved visitor list.

Federal custody in Wyoming

Wyoming has no Bureau of Prisons facility. Wyoming federal defendants are typically held at out-of-state BOP facilities. Federal deposits go through the BOP Trust Fund via Western Union, MoneyGram at retail, or online at bop.gov. You need the eight-digit BOP register number. Do not use WDOC or county methods for federal inmates.

What to know before you send anything

You must be on the approved visitor list before any deposit will be processed. This is a hard requirement - no exceptions.

Access Corrections is the only authorized WDOC deposit vendor. Phone 1-866-345-1884 or go to accesscorrections.com.

For larger deposits, online ($2.95+) is cheaper than phone ($3.95+) or walk-in (flat $5.95).

County jails use different vendors from WDOC. Laramie County uses ICSolutions for phone; check each county's website for deposit vendor.
