General Visitation Information

Horry County J. Reuben Long Detention Center - Visitation

All visits are conducted via the video visitation system.

Inmate visiting times:

Monday, Wednesday and Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

  • Visits are not conducted on Fridays or Sundays.
  • Schedule visits 24 hours to 7 days in advance through the visitation office at (843) 915-6860 on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The visitation officers will respond to all messages left on voicemail in their office. Please make sure you leave a contact telephone number with your detailed message.
  • Inmates must complete a visitation request in the kiosk, listing the persons they wish to visit. Inmates can list five visitors on the kiosk, but only three can visit each time.
  • Visitors names not listed in the kiosk will not be approved for visitation.
  • If more than one visitor is coming for a given time-slot, only one person needs to schedule the visit.
  • Inmates are limited to two scheduled 30-minute visits each week.
  • Upon registering for visitation, visitors must present a photo ID with date of birth. In the event a photo ID is not available, the visitor must present two other documents verifying name and address. A visitor’s date of birth must be on one of the two documents.
  • If a visitor is 10 minutes late for a visit, the visit is automatically cancelled and may be rescheduled by the visitor.
  • Visitors may not take purses, recording devices or other items into the visitation areas. Anyone passing or attempting to pass anything to an inmate will be charged and prosecuted. According to the South Carolina Code of Laws, section 24-7-155, furnishing or possessing contraband in county or municipal prisons is prohibited. Any person found guilty of violating this section is guilty of a felony.
  • Visitors may be subjected to a “pat” search prior to entering the visitation area. Visitors will be denied the right to visit if they refuse a search.
  • Visitors may not wander through or loiter in the visitation area. Visitors must stay at their assigned booth during visitation.
  • Visitors under the age of seventeen must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times.
  • Visitors must wear shirts and shoes to enter the Detention Center and during visitation.
  • Visitors will not visit if they are wearing clothing that is deemed inappropriate by the Corrections Officer.

SPECIAL VISITATION
Contact the visitation office to make requests for special consideration regarding a visit. (e.g., out of state visitation). Visitors must inquire in advance of the requested date and time of visit.

PROFESSIONAL VISITS
Attorneys have access to their clients at reasonable times. Inmates cannot be seen during mealtimes, lockdowns and emergency situations. Attorneys can contact the movement center at (843) 915-5140 to coordinate and schedule visits with their clients. Scheduling may minimize wait time.

All inmate movement stops during the following times while conducting official inmate counts:

Mornings 5:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Mid-day 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Evenings 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
