Subject: Pending criminal charges
The timing of when charges are filed has no legal relationship to when the alleged offense occurred. Prosecutors can file charges days, months, or even years after an incident as long as the statute of limitations for that specific offense has not expired. No rule says everything connected to a period of time has to be charged at once or charged immediately. What drives a new charge coming after the fact is almost always an affidavit from a law enforcement officer...

Subject: Release questions
Good question. The state will provide a bus ticket to the release destination. If the family can afford a flight, the prison staff will transport the released to the airport.
Subject: Send books and magazines
Everything InmateAid sends is print. Physical magazines printed by the publisher and mailed directly from the publisher to your nephew at the facility. Subject: Bail & bond questions
Missing a court appearance while on bond is a serious, serious offense. For starters, there will be no further bond until her case is heard. Subject: Inmate transfer
The administrative transfer could mean a number of things. The first thing that comes to mind is the inmate has some issue with another inmate in that facility. It could be a co-defendant he cannot be placed in the same facility. But if this is happening often, it could be that he was a confidential informant. They get moved routinely to keep their whereabouts changing. The short-term stays (8 months at a time) make it seem like he is in protective...

Subject: Pending criminal charges
My guess is that the inmate got into a violent fight where someone got hurt really bad - it could certainly be something else. He was probably taken to the SHU where they held a Disciplinary Hearing with a single Officer (the DHO) presiding. The DHO evidently found him guilty. Now, the punishment would include more time added to the sentence, plus a change of institution (to a higher security level with less privileges). Here are some examples of Class B...
