Whomever is standing for him in court needs to make the judge aware of his mental state - this is one of his defenses. The judge should order a mental health evaluation if properly noticed. The results will give the judge some idea of how to proceed. If he was indeed involved in a serious crime the better alternative to incarceration for him would be in a mental health facility to help treat his illness.

Inmate Phone Calls
Is the InmateAid Discount Phone Service Worth the Cost?
The short answer is yes, and the math makes it clear quickly.…

The short answer is yes, and the math makes it clear quickly. InmateAid does not replace the phone system at the jail or prison. Your family member still calls out through the facility's phone service the same way they always have. What InmateAid does is give you a local phone number to receive those calls on. That single change drops the per-call rate from long distance to local, and the difference between those two rates is where the savings come from. Here...

Any of the state SCI facilities in Pennsylvania are serious institutions.…

Any of the state SCI facilities in Pennsylvania are serious institutions. It is possible that your son has been in a few fights or so if he's been in the RHU a few times. But we are not wanting to alarm you becasue it is also possible he beat up someone, instead. The RHU is either for disciplinary reasons or adminstrative reasons. The latter could be protective custody, but we do not think that is the case or he would...

Prison Discipline
Are the horror stories that you read about isolation true?
The RHU is the same thing as the SHU, it's all about solitary confinement.…

The RHU is the same thing as the SHU, it's all about solitary confinement. I have been in there three times in federal, you're not gonna get BS from me. I don't know about horror stories, but isolation is no picnic. What are your expectations, for someone to tell you it's great? Inmates get sent to the SHU for a variety of reasons. In most cases, it is a merited punishment for some rule violation. The more serious the infraction, the...

The two people you want are the counselor and the case manager. Call the facility's main number and ask to be connected to your son's counselor or case manager by name if you have it, or ask them to direct you to whoever handles his housing unit. If you do not know the unit, give...

My inmate has a bail but also an ICE hold, if he pays the bail can he get released?
The judge is not in the same jurisdiction as the agency that oversees ICE.…

The judge is not in the same jurisdiction as the agency that oversees ICE. The judge gave the bail based solely on the charges levied against your father but the ICE hold supersedes the bail - therefore the jail cannot release him, and the bondsman will not write a bond.

How Do I Check Sentencing Status for an Inmate From Abroad?
The no-bond designation tells you something important about how the court views his situation.…

The no-bond designation tells you something important about how the court views his situation. When there is no bond, the system is signaling that they expect him to be remanded to custody after the hearing anyway, which removes the urgency around bringing him before a judge quickly. Probation violations, particularly combined with a third DWI, are treated as a serious breach of the leniency he was already shown. The court is in no rush. There is no guaranteed timeline for how...

Send Inmate Money
How Much Money Should I Send an Inmate to Start Them Off?
Send what you can genuinely afford without creating a hardship for yourself first.…

Send what you can genuinely afford without creating a hardship for yourself first. That is the only rule that actually matters here. Inmates are fed three meals a day regardless of what is on their books. Nobody goes hungry because their account is empty. What commissary money buys is comfort and small pleasures above the baseline: snacks, hygiene items beyond the basics, phone time, postage for letters, and in some facilities access to email. Most facilities cap monthly spending somewhere in...

This is a typical behavior of inmates in general. It might be the relationship, or it might just be him - and not that he is seeing or speaking to another woman but oftentimes they get depressed and disconnect from people they love. There is a perception on the inside that the outside world has forgotten us. We would give it a little time, maybe write a letter and address your concerns. He might be feeling helpless and lost, OR...

To be honest, there are no "signs" pointing to success or failure in a parole hearing. They all take time to process and nothing speeds up the decision. Parole is a waiting game, but on a 20 year sentence, we would err on the side of caution and ask you to be patient.

Will InmateAid Work for My Inmate at a Small County Jail?
Yes.…

Yes. InmateAid's services cover every prison, jail, and detention center in the United States, including small county facilities like Dunklin County. No facility is off the map. That said, the specifics of what each service can do vary from facility to facility. Letter delivery works everywhere through the US Postal Service. Phone service savings depend on who the facility's contracted phone carrier is. Money deposit options depend on what the facility accepts. The core services are available regardless, but the exact...
