What is the parole process?

I know someone who is supposed to go up for parole in November this year. He's had no trouble no write ups nothing. He's been in since march of this year. What's the process of it all and determining if he could come home

It starts with his original Judgement and Commitment Order received when he was sentenced. If parole is an option, the terms would be found in this document. If he is indeed set for a Parole Hearing in November, he will have been given a package of information, maybe requiring some written responses to questions. He would meet a Board that would assess whether they agree to let him back into society. They weigh the risks to the community with the time served and their sense of remorse and contrition. They know that inmates are trying to go home, and for the most part the Board will look for reasons to let them out, with supervisory conditions. We wish you both the very best good fortune in his quest.
