Will Discount Phone Service Work at FCI Talladega Camp

Hi my brother will be at FCI Talladega medium but he was told that he'll check in there but be moved to the camp. Since we have already purchased the discount telephone service, when they transfer him to the camp will we have to get a new number from this discount phone service? Thank you.

Good news here. FCI Talladega's satellite camp shares the same facility infrastructure as the medium, which means the discount phone number you already have set up will work at the camp without any changes on your end.

When an inmate moves from the main compound to the satellite camp at the same complex, they are still dialing out through the same facility phone system. The number your family set up is already on the approved dial-out list, so it carries over automatically. You do not need to register a new number, place a new order, or do anything at all before the transfer.

A few things worth knowing as you plan ahead:

  • Satellite camps operate under the same BOP facility code as the medium. Mail, phone access, and services tied to FCI Talladega apply to both the main compound and the camp.
  • The transition from medium to camp can take a few weeks after initial intake. It is common for inmates to check in at the main facility first while unit assignments are sorted out.
  • If at any point your brother is transferred to a facility in a different area code, a new discount line can be set up the same day you request it. There is no waiting period and no gap in service.

InmateAid's discount calling service is built around exactly these situations. Once you are set up, the account travels with your family member as long as the facility and area code stay the same. If they move to another facility, let us know and we'll issue a new number at no charge.
