The East Arkansas Regional Unit, situated in unincorporated Lee County, approximately 17 miles southeast of Forrest City, is a state prison under the jurisdiction of the Arkansas Department of Correction (AR DOC). Functioning as one of the state's parent units for processed male inmates, it serves as the initial assignment facility with a capacity to accommodate 1,624 inmates.

Operational activities at the East Arkansas Regional Unit encompass a diverse range of programs aimed at rehabilitation and skill development. These include Agriculture initiatives focusing on row crops, gardens, fields, and edible crops, as well as Chaplaincy Services, a GED Program in partnership with the Central Arkansas Baptist Bible Institute, Grounds Maintenance, various Industry programs, Jail Operation, a Life Skills Program, Regional Maintenance, Substance Abuse Education (SAE), the Think Legacy Program, and Vo-Tech vocational training. These operations cater to different aspects of inmate needs, offering opportunities for education, vocational training, and behavioral rehabilitation.
