Located at 27823 W Main St in Morgan, GA, CSP carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Calhoun State Prison, constructed in 1993 and opened in 1994, serves as a medium-security facility with a capacity for 1,677 offenders. Committed to protecting the general public, staff, and inmates, the prison provides a safe and humane living environment for medium and minimum-security offenders. This is achieved through the implementation of Principles of Effective Intervention, including the Risk Principle, Needs Principle, Responsivity Principle, Treatment Principle, and Program Integrity.

Housing at Calhoun State Prison comprises nine units, each equipped with 24 triple-bunked cells and 24 double-bunked cells. Additionally, there are eight open dormitories with a total of 480 beds, along with 95 segregation/isolation cells. The facility also houses a C.E.R.T. Team and a Fire Station to ensure safety and security.

Work details at the prison encompass a range of assignments, including tasks in Calhoun County, support for the Georgia State Patrol, outside maintenance, warehouse duties, groundskeeping, and fire station operations.

A variety of programs are offered to address the diverse needs of the inmate population. Academic offerings include General Education Diploma (GED), Adult Basic Education, literacy remedial courses, correspondence courses, and English as a Second Language. Counseling services cover topics such as family violence, motivation for change, re-entry preparation, thinking for a change, moral reconation therapy, and specialized programs like the Sex Offender Psycho-Educational Program (SOPP) and Exodus Stronghold led by the chaplain. Recreation opportunities are available for general leisure activities, while religious activities include various worship services and faith-based programs.

Vocational and on-the-job training programs provide inmates with valuable skills for employment upon release. These include forklift operation, food service work, horticulture, sanitation, building maintenance, barbering, education assistance, library assistance, laundry services, groundskeeping, and office clerical work.

Overall, Calhoun State Prison is dedicated to fostering rehabilitation and addressing the needs of its inmate population while maintaining safety and security. The first step in the visitation process is to become an approved visitor. To do so, you must first fill out the Visitation Request Form and submit a completed form to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated. Please include a copy of supporting documentation (photo id, marriage license, and birth certificate) along with the application. Consent forms must be notarized before they can be processed. All visitors must apply regardless of age. They must also be mailed to the facility where the offender is currently housed (email forms will not be accepted).

Dress Code - For adults: No tank tops, no mesh or see-through clothing, t-shirts cannot be sleeveless. No chest, shoulders, or stomach exposed. A skirt may not be more than 2 inches above the knee. No stretch pants or shorts may be worn. Only children are permitted to wear shorts. No Contraband is Permitted
