The inmates housed at SCI Fayette located at 50 Overlook Dr in LaBelle, PA are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

SCI Fayette is a maximum-security state prison incarcerating about 2,050 inmates in 11 housing units which are comprised of multiple occupancy cells, and dormitories. Fayette participates in the Correctional Industries program and employs inmates in a license plate factory producing plates that are used throughout the state. Furthermore, the metal factory produces metal furniture that is used in prison cells. The community work program here provides inmate labor in landscaping various government agencies, cemeteries and parks, the loading and unloading of trucks that provide goods for the local food banks, and picking up litter from roadways.

These products are sold to agencies such as the Department of Corrections, Pennsylvania State Police, the Pennsylvania Game Commission and other state agencies.

Community Work Program: The CWP crew helps unload boxes at numerous food banks to include the Community Action Food Bank, Calvin Food Bank, Point Marion Food Bank and Centerville Food Bank. They have also painted, stripped and waxed floors and mowed grass at numerous churches, legions and community centers. CWP crew participates also pick up litter on their assigned roadways.

Covid Visitation Information

On Aug. 19, 2020, the PA DOC unveiled a new video visitation program that will remain throughout the duration of COVID-19 and beyond, even when in-person visits resume. For complete details about how to participate and how to schedule a video visit, read the Video Visitation Visitors Guide.

Video visitation is a free service being offered to inmates and authorized visitors, and all inmates are eligible to participate. The visiting rules for Video Visitation are generally the same as those for visiting in the facility.

Visitors who have been restricted from visiting any institution may not participate in this program. If any inappropriate conduct occurs on the behalf of the inmate or the visitor the visit shall be terminated.
