Inmate Phone Calls

Can an Inmate Call More Than One Number Through InmateAid?

When you set up a phone line with InmateAid does it only let the inmate call to one number? Or can he call more than one number.

Each InmateAid phone line is set up for one forward-to number at a time.

Each InmateAid phone line is set up for one forward-to number at a time. That means the InmateAid number your inmate dials routes to one specific number on the outside, whether that is yours or someone else's.

If your inmate needs to reach multiple people at the discounted rate, the solution is to set up multiple lines, one for each person who wants to receive calls at the lower price. Each line has its own InmateAid number that forwards to a different phone number on the outside. So if you want your inmate to be able to call you, his mother, and his attorney all at the discounted rate, that would be three separate lines each forwarding to a different number.

The good news is that InmateAid discounts additional lines, so the cost per line goes down when you set up more than one. It is worth doing the math on how many people your inmate regularly calls and comparing the combined cost of multiple InmateAid lines against what those calls currently cost without the discount. For families where several people are staying in regular contact with an inmate, multiple lines often make financial sense across the board.
