Does discount phone service work in jails

The new discount telephone service is this only for prison or for jail as well? I signed up and paid but now the status says pending. Will I be notified If I am unable to use the discounted service at his Mercer County Jail location?

InmateAid’s discount telephone service is designed to work with both jails and prisons, as long as the facility allows outgoing inmate calls through a compatible phone system.

At places like Mercer County Jail, eligibility depends on the specific phone provider they use and whether the system can support the discounted routing.

If your account shows pending, that usually means:

  • Your setup is still being processed
  • A number is being assigned to you
  • The system is checking compatibility with the facility

You will be notified once everything is ready to use. If for any reason the service does not work with that jail, you should receive a notification and a refund.

In the meantime, no action is needed on your part. Just watch for the confirmation email with your number and instructions.
