When you have completed your letter and are going to checkout, underneath your inmate's name and address it says: **Estimated** **mailing** **date**: an actual date (xx/xx/2016), *How* *long* *will* *my* *letter* *take* *to* *arrive* *?* When you click it, it gives this explanation: Letters are processed immediately upon entry unless after 6pm on Saturday, those letters will process Monday morning. We estimate that it takes 2-3 business days to make it to the jail. Once there, the staff opens and reads...

You can take the clothes in a bag and drop them off.…

You can take the clothes in a bag and drop them off. Unfortunately, his needs are immediate and unless you approach the holding police with humility and respect, they will not give the clothes to him, they are not required to be nice, just to detain him and feed him.

My inmate's commissary account is being garnished, is another way to get him commissary money?
We have had similar questions on Ask the Inmate and have responded very honestly.…

We have had similar questions on Ask the Inmate and have responded very honestly. Some inmates in your spouse's situation will work out a deal to "use the commissary account" of another inmate. You place the money in the other inmate's account and they buy the items your spouse wants. The inmates charge a fee which is usually some percentage of the total money deposited to buy some things for themselves. This is a common inmate-to-inmate service that is against...

Pending Criminal Charges
How much time could my friend get for Internet piracy?
This sounds a little fishy.…

This sounds a little fishy. Make sure of what his EXACT charges are because piracy of Internet content like music is one very minor charge that is largely never pursued, child pornography is another - very seriously and aggressively prosecuted. It sounds like he might have been caught with child pronography and he was hiding the pictures in the music files. If this is a federal case (FBI involved) then he could face a lengthy prison sentence in the United...

Sentencing Questions
Is there 2 for 1 time in a Georgia PDC sentence
No, Georgia Probation Detention Centers do not typically offer “2 for 1” time like some state prison systems.…

No, Georgia Probation Detention Centers do not typically offer “2 for 1” time like some state prison systems. PDC time is structured differently. It is a highly regimented program, and while it is shorter in duration, there is usually less opportunity for large sentence reductions. That said, you can still receive some time off through good behavior. In many cases, inmates may earn around 15 percent good time credit, which can reduce your total time if you stay compliant and avoid disciplinary issues. A...

Can you help me locate an inmate in the Northwest JRCF?
We found two Anthony Perez but neither had an "E" as a middle initial.…

We found two Anthony Perez but neither had an "E" as a middle initial. Because this is a military base and the prisoners are soldiers, the standard inmate locators do not have the entire inmate roster available. You might try calling the facility itself (253-967-0058) and speak with the unit secretary for that information.

Commissary
What can inmates buy in jail?
Commissary prices are close to what you would find in most grocery stores.…

Commissary prices are close to what you would find in most grocery stores. Inmates can spend between $50 - $75 per week on average. Some inmates use it as a grocery store and buy a lot, others pick out just their very basic needs. Here are some of the wide ranging items on the list: Instant coffee, sodas of all kinds, chocolate, licorice, Cheetos, Jolly Rangers, nuts, microwave popcorn, cookies, crackers, protein bars, pop tarts and cereal. There are proteins...

We are unable to locate him with the information provided. If he is not on Vinelink or the TDCJ Inmate Locator, our best advice is to try the [ICE Inmate Locator](https://locator.ice.gov/odls/homePage.do). This locator will require you to enter more fields of information which should narrow it down.

Federal inmates must go through an Admissions and Orientation (A&O) before they are allowed to make calls or receive visitors. This usually occurs every Wednesday depending upon the amount of new incoming inmates. Inmates are screened by Unit Management and Health Services at the time of arrival and will also be screened by Psychology and Education Staff. Inmates are immediately provided with a copy of the institution's rules and regulations, which include information on inmate rights and responsibilities. For the...

We strongly recommend having the inmate ID for all mail correspondence because the staff can reject mail without it. That is not to say they will, but some are more strict with the rules and will use any reason to send things back. We have corrected this in your account and would be more than happy to resend any of them. The ones without an ID go back to 3-28-16. Let us know if he received them, if not we...

Most inamtes do their time without ever having to fear for their safety. Others seem to find conflict at every turn. A lot has to do with the type of person that inmate is, are they argumentative, are they mouthy and challenge everything people do? Obviously, the more that the inmate keeps to themselves and is not disrespectful to others, the more peace they will have. The guards in most instances are well trained and have empathy for the offenders...

They will have to tell you. The jails do not report back that incoming mail was received. If there are any issues we will resend with no questions asked. Normally it takes 2-3 business days but the staff ultimately has the responsibility of deciding when they hand out the mail. Delays happen sometimes without notice.
