Subject: Commissary

You should call the facility first before you do anything and see if they would allow it. In state prison, some states allow you to send shoes or work boots (or order them for the inmate and they are shipped in). In federal you definitely cannot. All extra footware is bought through the commissary. The pricing is very fair for sneakers and boots. The inmate would need money on their books to be able to acquire them.

Subject: Sentencing questions

This is going to depend heavily on what the facts of this crime were that came out during the trial. How badly was the assaulted person hurt? Was there any property damage?  The judge will consider his criminal history which is a big negative in this case, meaning that his priors will surely send him back.  If the "damaging" facts are light, it could be a short sentence (3-5yrs); if it's a bad set of facts it could be a long time.

This will not immediately add to the original sentence, but it poses a problem when the new charge is heard by a judge. This is where the new case by itself would probably sent to probation instead of incarceration. WIth two strikes in such a short period of time could make the resisting charge result into another several month stay in county jail

You can write him through InmateAid, the letters will get there in one day as we are headquartered in Palm Beach County Florida only one county away from Broward County where he is locked up. You can send him magazines or books - with his situation, he is completely walled off from contact with other inmates. I've been in soitary and it is no joke. Reading was my only escape.  There are other enlightenment opportunites down the road through college correspondence courses, but that

His belongings are boxed up and kept in storage. If you didn't show up they would be there when he got released. They want people to collect the goods to keep from having an overload of stored boxes for inmates. There are other instances where the facility (federal) will ship the property to the inmates home address.

Malcolm Galdwell books, "Tipping Point", "Outliers" and "Blink" are recommended for business philosopy-type reading. For fiction reading, i like the authors Stuart Woods, Vince Flynn, Harlen Coben, Lee Child, John Grisham, Daniel Silva, Michael Lewis and Sandra Brown. There are tons of titles for these authors. The prison/jail rules require buying paperback books from the publisher like Amazon, don't try and send them yourself, they will definitely get returned.
