Located at 3920 E Ashwood Rd in Madras, OR, DRCI carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. DRCI offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.

Deer Ridge Correctional, Oregon's newest prison, is located four miles east of Madras in central Oregon. It consists of a 774-bed minimum-security facility and a 1,228-bed medium-security facility. Construction began in October 2005, with the arrival of the first minimum-security inmates in September 2007, followed by the completion of the medium-security prison in February 2008. Spanning 453 acres, the minimum-security area covers 185,000 square feet, while the medium-security area spans 400,000 square feet.

DRCI offers a variety of programs and services to its inmates, including welding, limited maintenance electrician apprenticeship, education, low Automated Criminal Risk Score (ACRS), the Alternative Incarceration Program (AIP), mental health treatment, cognitive programs, and work crews for inmates. Additionally, Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) Industries provides laundry services. DRCI maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Saturday and Sunday/Holidays:

  • 7:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Oregon DOC general guidelines for regular visiting. If visiting an AIC in special housing, there are additional restrictions and prior scheduling is required. Contact your facility for assistance.

ATTENTION: All visitors must ensure they are on the adult in custody's approved visitors list before scheduling an in-person visit. While the online system allows for scheduling regardless of visitor status, the visit will be denied at the institution if the visitor is not approved.
