Located at 3405 Deer Park Dr SE in Salem, OR, OSCI carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. OSCI offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. OSCI, established in 1955 and located near Salem, is a medium-security facility with 888 beds. It caters to adults serving felony sentences from across Oregon, including those transitioning from juvenile facilities. With about 350 Transitional Release beds, OSCI emphasizes transition and rehabilitation services.

OSCI provides various programs aimed at rehabilitation and preparation for reintegration into society. These include education, drug and alcohol treatment, transition programs, work assignments, mental health treatment, religious services, and assistance for inmates with mail and printing needs. Additionally, it hosts Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) Industries, offering services like graphic design, mail fulfillment, and surveys.

Moreover, OSCI offers housing and programming for individuals requiring special medical or physical assistance, without the need for hospitalization. Approximately 300 inmates are within a year of their release, highlighting the facility's focus on reentry and community integration.

OSCI maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Visitation Information

OR DOC -Oregon State Correctional Institution - Visitation

Visiting Hours: Saturday through Wednesday: 8:15 - 10:40 a.m. and 1:00 - 3:45 p.m.

DSU/Basic visits must be scheduled in advance by calling Laura Ellison at (503) 373-0173. You may reach Ms. Ellison Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please have the AIC’s SID # readily available when calling to schedule a visit.

Basic Visiting: A type of visitation authorized by DOC in its correctional facilities in which an AIC and an approved visitor are permitted to see and talk with each other on a scheduled basis for a reasonable period with no physical contact behind glass. All AICs who are housed in DSU are on basic visiting status. Some AICs may be in the general population but are still restricted to basic visiting. Basic visits can be scheduled for 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., or 2:30 p.m. (limited to 2 visitors, 1-hour time slot, and once per week).

Privileged Visiting: A type of visitation authorized by DOC in its correctional facilities in which an AIC and an approved visitor are permitted to see and talk with each other on a scheduled basis for a reasonable period.
Professional visits (i.e., law enforcement, a court or state representative, an attorney, private investigator, or psychiatrist/psychologist) must be scheduled through the Superintendent's office by emailing docosci-professionalvisitscalls@doc.oregon.gov Once your visit is scheduled, you will receive a confirmation email. ​

AICs may be permitted only one visiting session per visitor per day on weekends and holidays. If travel is greater than 3 hours, you may call (503) 373-0169, 30 days in advance to request to visit both visiting sessions on weekends and/or holidays if space is available. ​
